Can you trust me with your writing needs?
I’ve been writing pretty much all my adult life, most of which has been related to health. I’ve written two internationally-published books on how to create strong, flexible and healthy bodies. I’ve also contributed regularly to various national magazines like Men’s Health and Shape. (I served on the latter’s wellness advisory board too.) In addition, I’ve written numerous health-related articles for various local publications.
Over the past few decades, I’ve also been involved in:
- designing and writing educational material for service providers in the fitness industry;
- copy editing and proofreading for a fellow writer;
- designing and writing corporate wellness programmes for the Nelson Mandela University (NMU); and
- copy editing and proofreading documents for both the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality and the NMU Business School Executive Education programme.
I hold a copy editing certification from the University of Cape Town.
I also happen to have written most of my best mate’s lengthier emails. She complains that she can’t tell when one sentence should end and the other one begin. She also can’t understand how to get a subject and verb to agree in sticky cases. Nor can she work out when to use the relative pronouns ‘who’ vs. ‘whom!’ So, I’ve had plenty of practice with the less grammatically-minded out there.
Whether you’re:
- a crappy writer with something good to say (but a lack of interest in how to say it);
- an excellent writer concerned about good word flow or possible errors;
- a dodgy apostrophe abuser; or
- an astute grammarian who understands the value of a perfect piece of writing, I can help!
Some peeps are ‘helicopter’ readers (enter the perfect copy editor); some are ‘eagle’ readers (aka, the proofreader). I definitely fit into the former group and – lucky for me – I have others in my team who do the eagle-eye thang equally well.
